If it's an inlay on a painted headstock you could scuff it up with some 800 grit and tape the headstock sides and back, the nut and the rest of the neck (and guitar if it's a set neck) off and shoot it a solid color. Clear over it and blend the masking line after it's dry enough to sand and it should look fine.
